Belgium, a country with a split personality. Dutch Flanders in the north and French Wallonia in the south. Brussels, the capital, is a French-speaking (and French-looking and French-cooking) enclave surrounded by Flanders. Outside of Brussels, the main tourists cities are in Flanders, and they are all sights to behold. Poor Wallonia gets no respect. And I mean that literally, as rich Flanders resents their tax euros flowing to poorer Wallonia.
My first stop on my very first Fabulous International Sightseeing Trip to Benelux in 2004 was Brussels. From there I did day trips to Bruges, Ghent, and Antwerp in Flanders. Seven years later, when I was living and working in Luxembourg in 2011, I had a layover in Liège in Wallonia on my way to Aachen in Germany. At a later date, I will post my pictures and travelogues from my trip to Benelux and my visit to Liège.
