On my first trip abroad in 1980, Western Europe was a very specific reference, political as well as geographic. There was West and East, and no Center. Today, that’s all changed for the better. Now Europe has a nice middle. What I’m referring to as Western Europe is fairly arbitrary. I just as easily could have included the British Isles or the Iberian and Italian Peninsulas. But I’ll stick with France and the Benelux countries (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg), along with tiny Monaco. I made it to France twice, once in 1980 and again in 1987, before my Benelux trip of 2004. I didn’t know at the the time that my 2004 was to be my very first Fabulous International Sightseeing Trip. And I definitely didn’t know that I would have the extreme pleasure of getting to live and work in Luxembourg for 3 months in 2011.
I will be adding my pictures and travelogues from my trip to Benelux at a later date. I’ll also add pictures from my trips to France.
