The UK is made up of four “countries”: England, Scotland, and Wales on Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Ireland. London is the capital of both England and the entire UK. The first two times I was in London were each for one night. The first time was an overnight trip in the middle of a 1997 Parisian vacation. The Chunnel had only recently opened, and it was too enticing to resist. The second one-nighter also was a side trip from Paris. This time it was for work in 2006. The final trip was for four nights in 2007. It was a London-only work trip this time, and I had plenty of food that lived down England’s reputation for bad food. And fish & chips in London just can’t be beat. Somewhere I’ve got snapshots from my 1997 visit that I’ll post once I dig them up.
In 2022, I got back to the UK and got to see more of England than just London. But there’s still so much to see. And I sure need to see the UK beyond just England.
