I started off Day 3 with a simple but tasty raspberry muffin. Looks good, right?

You can’t really say I had lunch. But I had very good sweet treats. Like I talked about on my Day 3 blog post, I stopped by Santiago’s historic Confitería Torres. Continuing the theme of the morning, I got raspberry lemonade.

You could say my main course at Confitería Torres was the chocolate cake. Due to language difficulties, it took a while for my cake to come. If I remember correctly, they brought me something else first. And I was a little pressed for time because I was going to have to go back to my B&B to pick up my bags and then head out again to catch the bus to my next destination. But as you can tell by the picture, the chocolate was worth all the trouble.

That evening I found myself in Chile’s port city of Valparaíso. For dinner, I went to a nearby place recommended by the front desk clerk at the hotel. He did not steer me wrong. I knew things were going right just from the exterior of the place. It remineded me a lot of the place where I had dinner in Santiago the night before. So colorful!

Well, the dinner I had this night was not quite as remarkable as the dinner I’d had the night before. That was an impossibly high bar. But it was still good. I got a simple fried hake dinner. Fish & chips, Chilean style It was a sequel of sorts to the grilled hake I’d had the night before.

I’m pretty sure that’s the panna cotta I had for dessert.

3 days in, and South American cuisine was agreeing with me very well!
