On Day 8, I had zero Spanish food. I didn’t intend it that way. That’s just the way it worked out. I’m sure you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
I started off the day at the station in Madrid with a chocolate croissant, yogurt, and some chips. It was my 4th chocolate croissant in 8 days. So basically had 1 every other day. I think that’s a pretty good record!

On Plaza de Zocodover in Toledo, I took a break and had some helado. (That’s ice cream to us gringos.) It looks like it was mint chocolate or something like that.

Okay, for an early dinner in Toledo, I had something incredibly non-Spanish: Italian! I walked by an Italian spot. It looked good. I was hungry. And I bet they had Wi-Fi, which would have been the clincher. Fried calamari and tagliatelle carbonara. Mangia!

To continue the theme and finish up the day, I got a big waffle with chocolate and ice cream on top. So Belgian! So not Spanish!

Did I make up for the lack of Spanish food on Day 9? We’ll just have to wait and see.
