I had already seen so many fantastic sights in my day in Golden Gate Park.  But there were more wondrous sights yet to be seen.  The San Francisco Botanical Garden contains many such wonders.

The Cape Region of South Africa has a Mediterranean climate similar to California.  This allows flora native to South Africa to thrive in the San Francisco Botanical Garden.

Beach Chalet

Back where I’d started out 1st thing in the morning–12 hours earlier and 2 blog posts ago.

After the San Francisco Botanical Garden, I took 2 buses to get back where I’d started the day–the northwest corner of Golden Gate Park, opposite the Pacific Ocean.  It was time for dinner at the Beach Chalet.

The Beach Chalet was built in 1925 with a restaurant and changing rooms for beach-goers.  I had a delicious dinner there.  But there is also beautiful art to be found in the Beach Chalet.

Windmills, bison, butterflies, the AIDS memorial.  Great art, Japanese culture.  And now all of this.  After the spectacular day I had, and after these 3 blog posts, I think we can all agree that Golden Gate Park alone is worth a trip to San Francisco!  (Oh, here’s a little secret.  I went back for more on Day 2.)
